That is a good long time and I'm certain no one noticed. <br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The epic adventure I had over the past 4 days is definitely blog worthy to say the least. In the event you may have been living under a rock the last 4 days, Cisco broke the internet..........</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Let me start by being honest and say I wouldn't describe myself as a dog person. My friends who have known me a long time would say the same. I don't dislike dogs, I'm just indifferent. I've even had a dog or dogs my whole life. Until, Cisco.........</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">History of Cisco:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Even though I claim to not be a dog person, I follow <a href="http://www.rescueahart.org/?fbclid=IwAR3qPuLnbOEXp3_J-mFwSohymP3f9FjxoxF9mm_OJA4e7Sm8kjZpX0eFzQA" target="_blank">Hart</a> on Facebook. They did a courtesy post for a Chihuahua rescue in NKY, and it was Cisco. </span><br />

I had never seen a dog this cute. I somehow made a crazy connection. We contacted the foster mom, and went and checked out Cisco. He was a year old and Joyce had rescued him from a Hoarding situation. All she knew was there was a lot of dogs, many of them inbred. The husband would sneak them over the fence to the rescuers. They were left outside, and the woman would just throw food out a window. This was all we knew, but it appeared Cisco may had been abused, Joyce stated he didn't like men. She brought him to our house, he met Kipper, we checked out and we were new owners of this precious little Chiweenie. </div>

<span style="font-size: large;">our first meeting</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took him over a year to warm up to Ron. He still won't go to him unless I am in the room. He generally likes Ron best when he's asleep. Everynight he gets in the bed and goes right up to Ron's face and sniffs him. He will only playfully lick his hand and run away. He will let him pet him only in bed at night if I am there. He's a little warmer with Perry, he'll go to Perry if I am in the room, and he'll let Perry love on him, but only if I'm around. If either of them break routines in the morning he barks at them. He growls at Ron when he comes in the room, and I'm there. If I am not at home he does not bark at either of them. He's definately a good protector. It's not my favorite when he's protecting me at 5 am, and I'm asleep. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When we first got him we had a few breeches in our fence we discovered but I was always right there and Cisco would stop and just lay down if he got out. All breeches were fixed immediately and we've never had an issue of him getting out. Until Friday 6/14/19.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I left around 7:30pm to watch a softball game, the boys stayed home. I honestly don't remember if the dogs were in or out when I left. I got home pretty late 12:30 am, usually when I get home Cisco is at the door very happy to see me jumping on me, and basically dancing. But not this night, I assumed he must be outside with Kipper our other dog. So I went to let them in but Kipper was already in, and called for Cisco no Cisco. Chaos ensued. Ron (my husband) was asleep, but not for long. We called for him for a few blocks with no luck. The boys went looking the next morning, with no luck. I started posting messages on social media 1 am Saturday morning. I paid a visit to Animal Friends Human Society.................</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was one of the worse thing I've ever put myself through. If you are searching for a dog that has recently gone missing. They parade you through several rooms of sad lost dogs. By room 2 I was in tears, after room three I ran out crying. I wanted to just show them a picture, but they said I had to look, why torture me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I received so much outpouring of help immediately, from friends, family coworkers and so so so many strangers. Suggestions as to where to post, and who to contact. A huge part of me wanted to just get on with my life, but my heart wasn't ready to give up. Just when I'd start to give up there'd be a new sighting. So I'd go and call and nothing. All these strangers were seeing him and I'd go and see nothing. I made flyers and had them laminated. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC-YKMEnrls8CByvijKLds6FopLaLzRh7xNd8R48dSQ7QTtoS7DAWDkeakmTMRo0HmKk-Ta7AymOe4EHYpc12u7H7XyChsJ8ss_2oBbc3hEtXpBtFL9uApekSaOfv-TydgRr35MA/s1600/IMG_6892.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1484" data-original-width="1125" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC-YKMEnrls8CByvijKLds6FopLaLzRh7xNd8R48dSQ7QTtoS7DAWDkeakmTMRo0HmKk-Ta7AymOe4EHYpc12u7H7XyChsJ8ss_2oBbc3hEtXpBtFL9uApekSaOfv-TydgRr35MA/s640/IMG_6892.jpg" width="484" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Saturdays sighting was close to home so I drove those streets at least 12 times. I had the weekend off which is very unusual. It was completely consumed with searching for this dog. The interest, and search began to take on a life of it's own as people began sharing his story and his sightings. People all the way to California were praying for his safe return. I was going to try and go to church Sunday but then there was a new sighting, so then couldn't had to go drive those streets. Keep in mind, Saturday we had a major storm and tornado's had touched down close by. In my mind someone had him in their home and he wasn't out in the storm. Sunday came (with another storm) and went and still no Cisco, but there were continued sightings each day. Monday I had to work late, so I spent the morning following up on leads, which were very far from home and near a giant lake, and a park known to have coyote's.....I was getting very defeated, and was at this point a shell of a human. The stress and lack of sleep, and keeping up with all the sighting and the inquirys, everyone wanted to know, so I felt obligated to keep everyone posted, the world helped me not give up. While I was at work, my husband and son were following up on new leads 6 miles from home, figuring there's no way he had been seen this far away. It started to rain and they gave up and came home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then while I was at work, trying to serve the public and act like I wasn't worried about my dog, a stranger calls from facebook....weird. They had a Cisco sighting and her husband was chasing him. I instantly call my husband who had just got done searching for 4 hours. So he ran to Waterworks Park, to try and capture him. The stranger named Kevin chased him down the bike path for a good mile, while Ron and Perry tried to come from the other direction to box him in. Perry and Ron never saw him or Kevin, and Kevin lost Cisco into the woods near the water treatment plant. Once I updated all of social media. Many people who I know, and who I didn't know went to that spot to search for Cisco. Perry and Ron surrendered once it started raining. Many searched that area until it got dark and some went after dark. I couldn't leave work unfortunately, occupational hazards of being in charge. But EVERYONE at IKEA was also worried, some were searching. I rushed through closing the store. Stopped at White Castles got 2 super smelly cheese burgers, picked up Ron and Headed to waterworks park. Ron took me to the place Kevin described where he lost him. I saw a beautiful deer, lots of fireflys, but no Cisco. I was calling him as we walked the bike path, and praying, I never stopped praying. I kept stopping and being quiet and l listening........and then, Ron said, "Jo turn around what's that....." I turn around and right at the opening where the lights were shining, (and the infinity flame) from the treatment plant this little white pup is running slowly towards me and I pick him up, and he just clings to me, and nuzzles his little dirty head in my neck. He's wet, smelly and muddy, but not hurt. He was shivering and whimpering not because he was in pain but because of relief. Also why is there an infinity flame???</div>

When we got to the car, I fed him the 2 white castles. He scarfed them right down. Many think this must be his favorite food. NO! Good heavens he'd for sure funk up my house. That was his first and his last. He definitely had white castle farts the next day. </div>

I couldn't possibly name everyone who helped out to thank. So many people prayed who probably don't ever pray. So now they can see the power of prayer, and how this tiny creature can bring a community together. We need each other. A generous friend has donated a nice Gift Certificate as a reward to <a href="https://bargainsandbuyouts.com/" target="_blank">Bargains and Buyouts </a>in Green Hills. Kevin the kind stranger who chased him for over a mile asked me to donate it to someone in need. I've decided to do a drawing from all the people who helped. So if you helped, you can leave a comment here, on Facebook or instagram. I will do the drawing on Friday at 12:30 (basically Saturday morning) which is one week from when I noticed he was missing. </div>

<br /><br />
So Here I am blogging after not blogging for a very long time. I created this video, just to see how hard it could be. Well it wasn't hard really just time consuming and I have a lot to learn! Like I could not for the life of me get it to upload from my MacBook........just why. I had to put it on my iPhone, edit it there cuz I couldn't for whatever reason even get it to save where I could upload it from the MacBook to my phone so I could then upload it. WHATEVER....why is it so hard to figure out? <br /><br />
<br /><br />
I promise my video skills will get better. I'd like to do journal pages, and art journal flip thru's. I'll need a class or someone to point out how the heck to upload from iMovie to you tube without it stopping half way thru and just not even going......UGH......Enjoy. <br />
With the death of Gene Wilder Yesterday, it's only fitting I post the scene from one of my favorite movies, and where I got the name for my blog. Love Gene Wilder. Movies he's been in are some of my favorites of all time. <br />
<br />
I've not watched Young Frankenstein in many years but plan to do so very soon. A lot has happened since April when last I blogged. Perry graduated from High School, and has started attending Project Life thru Butler Tech. He seems to like it and is slowly maturing and gaining more independence which is the ultimate goal. His least favorite thing about his new program is packing his own lunch everyday, and having to do his own laundry. Ha Ha Ha.....I told him it's called being a grown up, and those things suck for all grown ups. Except Geegaw who strangely enjoys doing laundry. Somehow I did not inherit that gene. <br />
<br />
Perry also started attending "big church" with us. Last week was his second week in big church, I show'd him how to use the bible app I had him put on his iPad, and by week 2 he learned to follow along with the message and look up scripture on his iPad. Made my heart happy. Hopefully he'll learn to highlight and refer back to important scripture. I think it was harder on me this transition as he'll no longer have that forced social interaction. I need to find a new forced social interaction for him. <br />
<br />
I have way more time on my hands now that my child is basically grown and not involved in stuff, so I've been doing lots of artwork for my art journal and staying up to date on my <a href="http://www.art5academy.com/the-studio/document-life-project-2016-the-unplanner/prompts" target="_blank">documented life unplanned.</a><br />

Let me give you a little back story. My child is not social, like at all. He doesn't have friends he hangs out with. Any socializing he does is usually created for him by me or usual situations like school or church. He doesn't seek out people to socialize with. He will not seek out people to chit chat. I cherish the moments he starts a conversation with me, this usually means something or someone has left an impression on him. He is completely content with who he is, and an extremely happy young man. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have gone to the same church for nearly 30 years. We have attended this church as a family for Perry's whole life, it's the only church setting he's ever known. He has loved attending the Student union since 6th grade. Other than Boy Scouts and school it's the only "socializing" he does. I often wonder what it must be like to be Perry in that setting. Loud. Hundreds of people roaming around. Loud music. Over the years I have met people who know Perry from the student union who have given me a small glimpse, and how much they adore him. The very best glimpse though is a year or so ago Perry show'd me a business card he keeps in his wallet. I was like "what's that?" He was like "its the police officers that's always at the student union. He's a really nice guy. He gave it to me. " I was impressed, he must have made an impression on him enough to show me what he had given to him. And that he must talk to Perry every single Sunday. Which if you know Perry that's not easy task, it takes patience and understanding as Perry generally won't talk back to you. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today I came home after going to a play right after church, then ran to the grocery store. Perry and Ron had done their usual Sunday shopping, Target and Costco. When I got home I saw an ENORMOUS box of pop tarts. I rarely buy pop tarts even though it's generally Perry's favorite food. The only time I get them is if Perry goes with me to the store. Ron will flat out not buy them as he considers them poison. Even though we don't buy them Perry finds a way to eat pop tarts nearly everyday as they sell them at school and he gets them at church. I don't buy them because he will generally consume the whole box in like 2 days, and I don't want to eat them either.....although they are delicious. So when I saw the box of 48 pop tarts......I was like what on earth???? Perry really got over on his dad, he must have done something amazing. I got busy cooking dinner, I had holler'd for Perry when I first saw the box but he didn't respond so I soon forgot. Eventually everyone was in the same place and Ron said "hey show your mom what you got a church...." He show'd me the ginormous box of pop tarts, I was like "did you win some sort of crazy game?" He was like no the police office gave them to me........say what? what a precious precious gift for Perry. He said he thanked him. And he told me he kept his cool and just said thanks but what he wanted to do was this......and he began jumping around like he had just won the lottery. I am going to leave that precious story right there.......that my friends is truly the "art of neighboring".......<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Yes that is a hand painted tarva dresser I won in an auction at IKEA many years ago. You too can try to score a hand painted Tarva dresser on April 26th, at 6pm at IKEA. There's way more dresser's up for grabs than when I scored this one and framed art work done by children of the lakota school district. #ARTFORTARVA</div>

It was a great message and reminder.....much needed. Said a prayer for God to show me creative ways to be generous, and then went about my day. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

My day consisted of going to Rhinegeist to Art on Vine, and then down to OTR to have an early dinner at Bakersfield.....my most favorite restaurant in the whole world. Generally speaking if I am anywhere near OTR for any length of time and around Lunch or Dinner time, whoever is with me ends up at Bakersfield, or The Eagle, but usually Bakersfield. So Colleen joined me on this adventure. It was her first time going to Bakersfield. Both of us had not had lunch, and it was 4pm. Usually there isn't a wait at 4 pm, but it was the second nice day in a row and a sunday, so it was an hour wait.......UGH.....Headed to a few shops and then found a spot to sit and wait. Dreading the hour wait......waited 20ish minutes and go the call there'd been a cancelation......SAY WHAT? Score.....shared a big picnic table with 3 random strangers....one of which was fairly loud. We set up to pig out with Guac (best in the whole world) and Queso......also very good. With 2 appetizers one might just get 2 taco's, but we both had 3 different kinds we wanted to try. We got the Guac and Queso within 15 min, seems reasonable. Right when we got it the manger came out and apologized it took too long. Wait what....but we didn't complain, everyone was super nice and attentive considering it was crazy busy. </div>

We got our amazing tacos. Inhaled them, and the waitress asked if the checks were separate. We said yes. The manger came back with our check, on one, and said it was taken care of, our meal was on him.......WHAT......wait why? No reason, just on him have a great day. Gave a generous tip, and was on our way completely baffled as to what just happened, and why. So turns out the creative generosity happened to me and Colleen today. So now I am challenged to pay it forward. Continuing to pray for creative generosity. God is good. </div>

Mission accomplished. When I first saw the title Donut Trail, I thought there was going to be hiking involved, alas there is not, I mean there could be, and generally should be, but that would be a loooong hike. <br />
<a href="http://www.gettothebc.com/blog/post/butler-county-donut-trail" target="_blank">Butler County Donut Trail</a> was a lot of fun. It could probably be done in one day, but You'd have to get up super early, possibly even like 1 am, as often these places close by noon or before if they run out of donuts. <br />
<br />
The first day I started was a friday, and Ron just so happened to be off. He was not happy about driving all over the county in search of donuts he had not intentions of eating......see <a href="http://whole30.com/" target="_blank">Whole 30</a> ever since then he refuses to eat donuts. Something about sweet addiction....blah blah blah. I informed him I'd go alone and he wasn't getting any, then I got kind of whiney about driving all the way to oxford alone.....Guess he felt sorry for me so off we went. <br />

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So we did oxford, ross and hamilton on the first run with a super grumpy husband. A week later on the Saturday, and drug a reluctant teenager to Middletown, Trenton, and Fairfield. He was all kinds of happy to get donuts, but not too happy about the driving all over the place for them. </div>

Driving from Middletown to Trenton is a really nice scenic drive with really cool old homes. My review is that out of all the donut places we went to Milton's Donuts in middletown by far was the best. It was a saturday morning and that place was hopping. We got 4 donuts and they were so tasty. I am a huge fan of Holtmans, and thought there was no way I'd ever find a donut better than Holtmans, Miltons Red Velvet was very very good and better than holtmans......gasp.....<br />

At one point Perry was involved in Upwards basket ball, cub scouts, and a Saturday art class all at one time. That was a very busy time in our life. I realize I have one child, so I am sure all of that is nothing compared to being a multi-kid family. <br />
<br />
Well Perry received the highest honor in scouting. Eagle Scout in July. I thought once school started<br />
He and his dad would still be a part of the troop. <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv8doX2RZFlpxrbj1k8GRXQ6yZf3ShGORyOwhPHbv6qdw_5Kt3j6C3P64amYzNF2gdxyOYq1fzp80h-IhOE6T76tfEwnCs60fsCaHH9lYfqRCF8YI_pdbSaU-jMFQcOcz5jcLsTw/s1600/IMG_8904.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv8doX2RZFlpxrbj1k8GRXQ6yZf3ShGORyOwhPHbv6qdw_5Kt3j6C3P64amYzNF2gdxyOYq1fzp80h-IhOE6T76tfEwnCs60fsCaHH9lYfqRCF8YI_pdbSaU-jMFQcOcz5jcLsTw/s400/IMG_8904.JPG" width="325" /></a>This is apparently not the case. I knew I wouldn't<br />
continue on, but I thought maybe they would. <br />
They have both said well maybe we'll help out<br />
next year, so maybe they'll just take a year off. <br />
It feels weird like the end of an era. Now I need to find some thing new to occupy my time. Oh trust me I am rarely without something to craft. I am currently multiple months behind on my <a href="http://www.arttothe5th.com/" target="_blank">documented life</a> art journal for 2015, I've come up with a christmas card that requires water coloring, die-cutting and then assembling, not to mention the t-shirt quilt I am attempting to create for Perry hopefully for christmas, or maybe graduation, heck as much as I enjoy sewing (not at all), it may be done by the time he has his first child. WHICH WILL NOT BE ANYTIME SOON. <br />
<br />
So as it turns out theres plenty to occupy my time when I'm not working, heck maybe I'll blog more. Ouch. 45 didn't suck nearly as much as 46. Here's how the day went. I was scheduled a Midshift at work. In retail it's the most hated shift, only because it's your whole day. It's my own fault, I didn't request off, or something different, primarily because I had other days I requested for, to do my celebrating. At the risk of being late to work, thought I'd roll through Starbucks for my free birthday drink.....turns out 10 other people had the same idea.....so skipped that, and arrived to work on time. While at work........well I work in customer service, in retail.....it's a gift really. I am usually very good with angry people face to face, and I am usually able to talk them off the ledge, and rarely get rattled. Apparently someone forgot to inform the first person I encountered this morning that it was my birthday, as he did not seem to care, aaaaaand kind of used some colorful language. <br />
<br /><br />
I did get my name on the board at work, but it was under anniversaries/birthdays so everyone kept telling me happy anniversary....in which case I've been working here for 46 years.....which means GOOD LORD CAN I RETIRE. <br />
<br /><br />
Thankfully I made peanut butter cookies last night specifically for my birthday, since no one in my house except me knows how to bake. Took cookies to work to share with the people who love me, turns out they also love my cookies. <br />
<br /><br />
My mother did call me on my birthday, but forgot to say happy birthday until I reminded her, as she was preoccupied with finding out where I got the head massager I got her for Christmas. No worries she did make up for it and picked me up after work and we had dinner at Aladdin one of my favorite places to eat. <br />
<br /><br />
Baby Chubs sent me a video on Facebook, and said bye bye, and my kid drew me a picture on Facebook. So it did not completely suck, and according to Pitbull and The Godfather, "everyday above ground is a great day." Next year.......I'm not working!Jodihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05559479356358514051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737173.post-43935991830378715532015-02-12T13:43:00.000-05:002015-02-12T13:43:24.534-05:00Clean Eating-PancakesWell we did another round of whole 30. It ended last weekend. I did pretty well. Only cheats were pumpkin spice coconut milk in my coffee every morning. The last day I had cake. I did well total weight loss was 8 lbs. I'm trying to maintain a 80/20 lifestyle and not spiral out of control and return to the land of poisonous food. The draw of fast food is strong and easy, because it's EVERYWHERE. The key is planning ahead, and to keep the food in my house clean. I have discovered delicious clean pancakes, and I am amazed at how yummy they are. You have to be a fan of crepe like pancakes which I am. I haven't tried them on the ultimate critic, my 17 year old child yet.....but I love them and are obsessed with getting them perfect. I am getting better at flipping them. I'm really bad at the pancake flip, no matter the pancake. <br />

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;"><u>Paleo Banana Pancakes</u></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">1 Banana</span><br />
2 Eggs<br />
1 tsp baking powder<br />
1 tsp vanilla<br />
dash of cinnamon<br />
cooking oil<br />
<br />
<br />
I smash the crap out of the banana till it's almost a liquid consistency. Beat the eggs with the baking powder, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix all of it together. I used Ghee for the cooking oil, but I've also used coconut oil. Either work just fine. You just need a little oil for each pancake. This recipe makes 4 medium sized pancakes. Basically 1 serving as they are thin. Get some taste syrup and enjoy. This would be good with blueberries. <br />

My favorite Christian music to listen to when I wanted to feel really close to God or I was having a quiet time would always be Keith Green. I remember when I was first introduced to Keith Green music my freshman year of college, I said to my friend, man he'd be great to go see in concert. Only to find out he had died 10 years before. It was tragic to me. I'd listened<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie1BDPsngOIhu7t9QbPCyY6Uf2P95PR1DqoS-yhkAWx67KvMQ6kxMguVezX7auXjoEUJvUW817tqjPvE_ywBtNFA7EVW3ett8kTDJTyIHW4cIft9AWrv2qF-kBktXxGqAGkIwTgQ/s1600/images9P3APX90.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie1BDPsngOIhu7t9QbPCyY6Uf2P95PR1DqoS-yhkAWx67KvMQ6kxMguVezX7auXjoEUJvUW817tqjPvE_ywBtNFA7EVW3ett8kTDJTyIHW4cIft9AWrv2qF-kBktXxGqAGkIwTgQ/s1600/images9P3APX90.jpg" height="320" width="315" /></a>to all his songs, and soaked them in, and would never get to see him perform live. Bummer I bet he was amazing. I then read his book No Compromise and it was life changing at the time. Then came along Rich Mullins. We saw him in concert at Ichthus one year, and it was almost as if I kind of got my wish, they were different people in different times, but seem to have the same heart to live out God's word, in an amazingly open kind of way. They both wrote songs that allow us to feel and hear scripture the way God intended for us to feel it. They both allow me still to this day feel God's presence when I need it the most. I can remember singing Create in Me a Clean heart, when I dealt with the usual life struggles any 20 something would deal with in the early 90, that seemed to allow God to speak to me as if to say, you got this, and I got you, life gets better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I remember Rich's concert well we were pretty close to the stage, and we were mesmerized when he spoke and sang. I remember he was barefoot, and had on a white t-shirt and jeans, and it was one of the best most spirit filled concerts I had ever seen. To this day when I feel lost or alone, Hold me Jesus is my song of choice. My favorite Rich Mullins story of all time though is, when he was in Columbus, and he stopped at a Christian music store, the one my BFF worked at. He asked to use the restroom, she was star struck. She didn't clean the toilet seat for a long time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just watched the Rich Mullins movie, it was good learned a lot of stuff I oddly didn't know about Rich, like he went to CBC-Cincinnati Bible College.......what? How did I not know that? That's almost like me not knowing Keith Green was dead. So he got his start right here, how cool is that. I also didn't know that he wrote many of the songs that made Amy Grant famous. Did someone tell me this and I just forgot or maybe I wasn't listening. No offense to the actor who played Rich but Rich was way better looking. </div>

My hair stylist is moving away. So I thought I'd share a history of getting my hair cut. Before I was in charge of my own life. There was the rare occasion my mom would cut my bangs crooked. Then a family friend cut my hair for my entire childhood. When I became in charge of my own life, my cousin Susan cut my hair for many years. I had, perms, a spiked bob, a bob for many years. Then she married a lawyer and retired. So then my hair dresser was Candy, in North College Hill. Then I moved to Fairfield. I found Tammi at JJ's I went to someone else first and then I think I was a walk in and Tammi cut mine and Perry's hair. She was so good with Perry, who won't talk and was kind of afraid of scissors. He was 5. He was always so small he had to use a booster until he was like 13. She always gave him a scissor cut. Until the past few years he gets a buzz. <br />
<br />
<br />
I've followed her to 3 different Hair Salons. I've always texted her when I needed an appointment. So one time I made an appointment via text, and she neglected to tell me she had moved. So I go to the old place where she had quit........and had that awkward moment where I said I'm here for Tammi and they are all like.....um she don't work her no more. Well crap. Needless to say I was a tiny bit late to my appointment since I had to roam my small town to find her. <br />
<br />
<br />
She dealt with me coloring my hair with Kool-aid green. It literally stayed in hair for almost a entire year. Through multiple hair cuts. She listened to stories of bad friendships, health issues, school and teacher issues, concerts I attended, and our favorite TV shows. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Oty4ZDBCg0T0a1fNnwN7PjXvviXRdTtF7VbcWivZmu9DJDPacrBWeETNZ43GKrcsXJ97UjN4CWz1_ZMhdX7yYyylsk7lkkg2kKp58pb7ZoodvEPRbW5Cx3s9wPA5rty7d-z9dA/s1600/IMG00096-20090929-1535.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Oty4ZDBCg0T0a1fNnwN7PjXvviXRdTtF7VbcWivZmu9DJDPacrBWeETNZ43GKrcsXJ97UjN4CWz1_ZMhdX7yYyylsk7lkkg2kKp58pb7ZoodvEPRbW5Cx3s9wPA5rty7d-z9dA/s1600/IMG00096-20090929-1535.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a picture of the time she cut my bangs too short. Perry's hair appointment was a few hours later and when I came back I was wearing a barrette, due to the fact that my bangs were so short they looked weird. I wore a barrette for a few weeks. I totally never let her live it down. We just found it amusing, and then whenever she'd cut bangs I would mess with her. Really it's just hair it grows back. Now after 12 years I have to get a new hair dresser, I don't wanna. They are hard to find. I told Ron I'd just travel to Nashville every 8-10 weeks, that's not a bad idea. He said no. </div>

Well it's not been a full year later, but <a href="http://aliedwards.com/" target="_blank">Ali</a> was doing one on May 8th, which I fully intended to do one that day, and my friend Connie was going to join me, but as it turns out we both forgot. Ha. So the day I was suppose to document my life I took this photo, which is me enjoying a glass of water after my lunch break and reading a book on my ipad. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFlJmtsYPnguzF0r9fvD-H6KgO8lB5sKTH_lt64EokHJ7eTGyCAIi2SBgehqR4wUe_Z4fKJ1j3FQKUnTy7Jdi_vmc4pzqKZkwRCgbLcnTSmx_FgClP1ZnMVOGJGhyH71JYm1b9dw/s1600/IMG_6984.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFlJmtsYPnguzF0r9fvD-H6KgO8lB5sKTH_lt64EokHJ7eTGyCAIi2SBgehqR4wUe_Z4fKJ1j3FQKUnTy7Jdi_vmc4pzqKZkwRCgbLcnTSmx_FgClP1ZnMVOGJGhyH71JYm1b9dw/s1600/IMG_6984.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I was like hummmm.....since it's like 2pm and my day is almost over maybe I'll plan to document my life tomorrow which is what I did. The next day on May 9th. Which was also a friday, just as last year in September was a friday. So it'll be good to see a friday and compare it to a friday in 2013. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDDZbEp9znj9rpOP4tde3F7sFa_5Jh3zq9xvkb3zy5579vtVffodbj7B1FbP13Ts9vU9oMdqP972lheAM1mc-IPgKOmih7BbaQka1Flr63SSxspVOdw1Xl34h3i-pkqJuOGKY8A/s1600/IMG_6993.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDDZbEp9znj9rpOP4tde3F7sFa_5Jh3zq9xvkb3zy5579vtVffodbj7B1FbP13Ts9vU9oMdqP972lheAM1mc-IPgKOmih7BbaQka1Flr63SSxspVOdw1Xl34h3i-pkqJuOGKY8A/s1600/IMG_6993.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As it turns out I do NOT get up this early usually on my day off. The man usually gets Perry up and off to school. But he decided to go to work early that day so it was all up to me. So 6:55 am was the horrible time I had to awake from my peaceful slumber. This gives Perry 30 minutes to get up and eat breakfast and get on the bus by 7:25 ish......his bus driver likes to keep us on our toes, and arrives within a 10 minute period, this makes my husband crazy. </div>

Time for some dirty eggs with bacon and sausage. The man makes me bacon every morning. Since we started clean eating this is pretty much a staple in our house bacon and eggs every morning. Costco bacon. The man doesn't make dirty eggs, so this is a treat when I make breakfast for the boy. He loves the<br />
m. Dirty eggs is basically just eggs with the bits of bacon and sausage in them. <br />

Ran over to Butler Tech, to pick up Perry's artwork. Where I was pretty much told it wasn't good enough to get into their program. Not hey lets sit down and talk about this. Or lets discuss other options that might work for Perry something other than.......it's not good enough. No parent wants to hear that ecspecially when you know what they are capable of. Just you wait, he'll do great things and you'll be like damn we missed our chance. Perry bearly knew I was trying to get him into butler tech so he's not upset or anything, he's just assume I do as little as possible to disrupt his world. </div>

Almost every day off I spend sometime reading at Panera. Not sure why I can't just read at home, I just enjoy the quiet of Panera. If I'm not doing a bible study, I'm usually reading a book on my ipad. Here I am reading The Gifts of Imperfection. Which I am currently finishing up an art journalling class to go along with this book. It's been very much a reality check, and I've been liberated by doing the art journalling with the reading. Good stuff. </div>

Perry and I then ran over to cincinnati mall to check out Arcade Legacy. It's this place where you can play all sorts of video games on pretty much any gaming system. They also have old school arcade games. You pay by the hour or you can pay $10 and play all day. Perry wanted to check it out for his birthday so we went and inspected the place. We ended up going for his birthday. Once we convinced him and Zack to play games they don't already own our hour was up. You sort of need to have a plan when you go, I didn't want to spend $10 so I kept them focused to get as much game playing in for 1 hour. If we go back we'll have a better plan. </div>

So yes I realize I've not blogged since November. Someone mentioned this evening, "I read your blog...." You read my what? Rarely remembering at the end of my email it says "Hey check out my blog." not ever letting it occur to me, people actually read this thing. I should really update my cover photo, since my child is now 10 years old than the picture on the header, and Ron and I have gotten way better looking. Lets be real my man is extra fine since he's gone all paleo and extra fit. <br />
<br />
<br />
So I work at IKEA. I have for 6 years now. It's my longest running job to date in my life. I love it there. Turns out I work with a lot of young adults. You mention to them your favorite band is U2 or Coldplay and they look at you like ahhhh....that's cute and you are so not hip. So mentioning to some 20 somethings regarding U2 and they direct you to the South Park episode featuring Bono. I am warning you do not google this or watch it, you will lose brain cells. I made it not even halfway through the episode before not watching anymore. I would put a picture of Bono on South Park right here but it turns out blogger won't upload the dang picture. <br />

In other news I am doing <a href="http://www.oprah.com/own-brene-brown-course/brene-course-bundle-landing.html" target="_blank">Brene Browns online art journaling class</a>. It's so much fun. I've really enjoyed it. I'm getting ready to dive into part 2 of the class. Well I tried desperately to add photo's to this post! It only made me cuss, and lose my religion. I had great pics of my art journal and bono on south park so you'll have to use your imaginations. Oh turns out I was able to add pictures when I switched to Google Chrome...so damanding....Google, doesn't like internet explorer.....Good Grief. <br />

I would highly recommend this class or art journalling in general. There are a lot of free class's out there or do a search on pinterest, you will be surprised at what you find. And it is such a release for me. I need to be creative. I am a happier person when I have frequent creative time to make a mess and make some art. <br /><span id="goog_1608001600"></span><span id="goog_1608001601"><br /></span>Jodihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05559479356358514051noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737173.post-22771173168798387132013-11-21T22:18:00.000-05:002013-11-21T22:18:30.080-05:00Life and DeathWell it often seems I only blog when there's a major life event happening. Guess that's ok. 10 days ago, Ashton had a baby girl 11 lbs 9 oz. Yes it was a C-secton. She looks exactly like her mother did when she was born over 20 yrs ago. Hard to believe she's old enough to have her own. Mom, Dad and baby are doing very well. Freaking out at every little thing like you are suppose to as new parents. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's been fun helping out and being there to give advice when she's freaking out. She's a beautiful baby. The day Basilia Mae was born, I found out a dear friend had been taken to Hospice. I had lunch with my friend Tarji that day and we chatted about how important Vivian had been to us. Now today 10 days later, Basilia Mae is 10 days old and Vivian is in Heaven. The advice my mom gave to me when I found out Vivian was in hospice was send her cards, and so I did 4 of them right away. Ones I hand made because she always appreciated my hand crafted cards. I know she was able to enjoy them and I encouraged other to send cards right away. I'm happy she left this earth knowing she was so loved. So today when I lost my dignity at the nursing home where my mother is rehabbing from a broken leg, my mom's advice was write about it when you get home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Vivian started at IKEA before me, and was there through build up with all of us. We really got to know each other well when she finally joined Facebook, and she saw things about me she wouldn't have known otherwise since I am primarily focused on work at work as was she. I'll never forget how hesitant she was to join in with sharing on Facebook, but once she saw how beneficial and useful it was she had a lot of fun with it. It was very therapeutic for her as she was going through everything with her cancer. She also used it often to chat with us coworkers who shared things she could relate to and she would then message us with sound grown up advice, or tell us how happy we looked. Or how pretty a picture was. Or how beautiful out kids were. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When she got her ipad mini, about once a week for a few weeks, she'd message me with technical questions, which was always funny to me because she used to be out IT person at IKEA. She knew how to do hard IT stuff but was baffled by the ipad technology. Ha Ha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my memorial picture to her......she did the ordering of printer ink for IKEA, and the company that sent it always sent a giant 2 lb party bag of peanut M&M's. She would always sneak the bag into my snack drawer because she said if they were at her desk she would eat them all. Then 2 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, then she wouldn't let me have the M&M's anymore. Ha. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She was such an encourager to so many people. Even when she was going through her own stuff she'd take the time to sit and talk with you about your stuff and what you were going through and then she'd share her own experiences, and what her fears were. I could only hope to be half the women she was. Rest in Peace sweet friend. Once again I did as my mother told me to, and wrote it out. </div>

Photography everyday moments all week long, and documenting it on her blog, she will then scrapbook those pics. Very cool concept. I was in no way ready to commit to a whole week but I thought it'd be fun to do for one day. So that's what I did. It was not a completely typical Friday, but it's a good glimpse into my life. <br />

Well I am not that organized. And I am the queen of procrastination. So much so 3 months went by, and guess what, tags were expired. I was never nervous I would get pulled over, it never crossed my mind I'd get in trouble. And well I didn't get in trouble. My sweet innocent husband did get in trouble though.....in my illegal vehicle. Ahhhhh snap. So we gave up all processed food in January. We occasionally indulge, but for the most part we don't eat processed food. And rarely eat out anymore. Unless its the weekend or we're on vacation. Well Ron has given in to the draw of diet Mt. Dew, and decided he was going to drive my illegal vehicle to get him a 20 oz.....and got pulled over for expired tags. (should've reconsidered on that pop consumption.) The officer told him if he showed up in court on the given date and had renewed the tags the judge would probably just throw it out. So the man whose name was on the ticket thought that meant the owner of the car, and not him whose the law breaker. So I was going to go by myself, and I was like, um your names on the ticket, and told him he should go with me. So he went thinking he was just supporting me.....um duh.....his name was on the docket. And they were rolling through alphabetically.......we are Sexton.......I could spend the whole day in the court room listening to thugs and thieves. At one point Ron was like you are loving this aren't you. And he was correct I was. Fascinating how dumb people are. Got to see a 30 something chic go to jail for stealing a pair of Nike's from Kohls. And then the dude who got busted years ago for drug possession and had to do a drug test every Friday, and was in trouble for "failure to report", tried to get sympathy that because he had to be there every Friday he lost his job. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a generic photo, as no cellphones allowed in the building. Judge Campbell is an excellent judge. When it was Ron's turn, he plead guilty. He stated it was his wifes car.......and she said "you're going to throw your wife under the bus...?" And laughed. She then mentioned that husbands are suppose to renew all tags for all vehicles because that's what happens at her house. (she was kidding.....) She asked if the tags were renewed. And they are. He left with no fine and no court costs. And an entire morning full of thugs and thieves, and a whole lot of entertainment. Can you just go to court and watch? I'm serious, that's fun. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another interesting fact I learned today from Judge Campbell. 90% of traffic accidents are cause because someone was making a left turn. So all the people I know who avoid left turns, I know many. You are smart people. Apparently UPS drivers are not allowed to make left turns. I'm intrigued, I might have to follow a UPS truck just to see this. </div>
Jodihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05559479356358514051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737173.post-67717130537297112532013-02-25T22:37:00.000-05:002013-02-25T22:37:40.845-05:00Whole 30, I didn't die....and neither will you. Accept for doing Weight Watchers a couple times, with no real success other than losing 10 lbs in the first week and calling that a success and gaining it all back a few weeks later, I've never really attempted a weight loss program. Woops....not actually a weight loss program, although the result is weight loss, it's not why we did it. We did it, to change many habits and not just our eating habits, although that was the primary focus. <br />
<br />
It started with a year end message at church. You can see that message <a href="https://vineyardcincinnati.com/player/369" target="_blank">here</a>. Where both Ron and I.....more so Ron, had some "ah-ha" moments. I could relate to much of the story being shared. Being overweight, relationship with food.....I'd heard it a million times....but this time was different. There was a God aspect to it that I hadn't given much thought. I am fully aware that ultimately God is in control of EVERYTHING. But does that mean I am willing to surrender EVERYTHING to him? Ha Ha Ha.....NO. Does that mean I recognize when God is trying to talk to me, often screaming at me.....and I hear him.....UM NO. Theres just somethings in life we hold onto with both hands with a very tight grip. A lot of people aren't willing to admit food has a crazy strong hold on us. <br />
<br />
Enter the book.....<u><a href="http://www.amazon.com/It-Starts-Food-Discover-Unexpected/dp/1936608898/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361846714&sr=8-1&keywords=it+starts+with+food" target="_blank">It Starts With Food</a></u>. I'm not much of a reader. Since giving birth, I've probably read maybe 10 books in the past 15 years if that many. And when I do read I am a sloooooow reader. This book I plowed through because it was fascinating and I could relate to it and the science stuff about food was not in anyway over my head. Ron read it to, and once we completed it we both agreed to give the <a href="http://whole9life.com/" target="_blank">Whole 30</a> a go. Ron never agrees to anything this crazy, or this restrictive. <br />
When I say restrictive I mean RESTRICTIVE. I knew we wouldn't go hungry, but giving up food that had such a stronghold on us was going to be a challenge. And I'm a women, and you know what happens to women and hormones......they don't go away now matter how healthy you are eating. <br />
<br />
We rid our home of all non-compliant whole 30 foods. After a couple weeks we referred to those foods as "poison". The first few weeks I stocked up on meat and veggies from Whole foods and trader joes. I soon learned that wasn't necessary. I soon learned to find almost everything I needed on the outside edge of Kroger. It's true all the processed foods are in the middle. Basically Whole 30 is Protien, veggies, fruit and healthy fats. Go to the website for more details. After the first week, it became easier and easier. We just had to learn to read labels, prep a head of time, and we pretty much couldn't eat out during whole 30. We did only 2 or 3 times, and that was to a Steak House, and to Chipotle. <br />
<br />
Our results. Our relationship with food has completely changed. We aren't being as strict as the whole 30, but we are eating the same way pretty much. We almost never eat sweets. We don't eat pasta, or rice. I've not bought a loaf of bread in nearly 2 months, probably won't until we go camping. I've actually stopped missing bread. (truth) We rarely snack at night and if we do, it's fruit, and in small amounts. Occasionally I'll have a teeny tiny bowl of popcorn from Perry (he was only whole 30 at dinner time) seriously he's a 15 year old boy.....he probably would have lost his mind. <br />
Ron has lost 25 lbs and I've lost 23. We haven't started working out. We wanted to get out eating in check before we conquired physical activity. <br />
<br />
What else has changed? I love Mango's! Ron's eaten spaghetti squash and didn't die. Ron's learned how to cook his own food from scratch. He's learned it's not hard to bake some chicken, and he loves salad. We learned that by reading the labels you learn that all processed food contain a whole lot of CRAP. And it's shocking how much food contains some sort of soy......ugh including teabags??? We are probably done with processed food for forever.....I may never buy Helmans mayo again ever.....or Miracle Whip. Homemade Mayo is easy and way better. Jodihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05559479356358514051noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737173.post-55790536733751228302013-01-21T02:21:00.002-05:002013-01-21T02:27:27.213-05:00Whole 30, 1 Week in......WHO FARTED?<div style="margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;">
<div align="left">
</div>
We made it through 7 days of <a href="http://whole9life.com/" target="_blank">clean eating</a> and did not die. Today was the first day I didn't feel like I was fasting or being deprived of food. I was never hungry like you would feel on a diet. Just craved things we can't have. The only time I've felt hungry is when I waited to long in between meals. Today was a good day. It was sunday, and I was off. Which rarely happens. We had all kinds of family time church, shopping, and then home. Plus we ate at a resturant for the first time in 7 days. Which is a miracle. Not a whole lot of safe food out there in the world. After some research we found we can have chipotle. Very restricted chipotle, but it was good, and satisfying and for the first time ever, after eating at chipotle I didn't feel like a giant brick was in my stomach 20 minutes after eating. <br />
<br />

<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We are heading into week 2. Our fridge is stocked with all fresh food, we know to plan ahead. So now we shall see what week 2 shall bring. Funny thing while at chipotle, I was thinking as I was eating my clean chipotle......dude I totally have not farted in 7 days, why is that? People who are close to me....I mean like really close, those I would fart in front of. It's a small group I promise, know well.....it's not like they don't do it too, it happens people. Lets just say they would be in shock. I never claimed to be much of a lady. Geez....I did actually end up farting once this evening, but it was the first time in 7 days I swear. And I haven't since. Also funny, while discussing this with the man I kept saying the word "fart" and he was like....."it's such a nasty word...." wait what? Good grief, it's not like I said the word POOP!!!! We'll discuss that next week......that's another interesting topic.......HA HA HA HA HA......NOT....some things are way too personal. </div>

We are off to a pretty good start. We started eating healthy this week. Not just healthy but whole 30 healthy. Go here http://whole9life.com/ to see what that means. We aren't being all strict on the man child. He's 15 so baby steps before you take away his waffles and popcorn. Day 3 is tomorrow Ron's struggling with breakfast. I made some omelet muffins he didn't like. Gotta find something we can eat that's quick and easy. Thought this would be fun for my blog. I created a year in review with some of my instagram photo's. It was a great year according to instagram. 2012 had it's fair shair of heart ache, but for the most part it was a good year. No complaints. God has been good to us!</div>

So first watch is my favorite resturant to have breakfast at. I always get the same thing. I get the Cranberry Walnut Oatmeal, with a side of sausage. Some of my friends make fun of me. I've heard "all the yummy things First Watch has and you're gonna get Oatmeal?' Yes, yes I am because they put magic into their Oatmeal that's why. First Watch is famous for the Bacado omlet, it has bacon, and avocado in it, along with cheese, red peppers, onion......I've never had it at First Watch. My bestie, Abby made it for me when I visited her in Cbus in march. Not even sure if I would like it, but convinced if she added her magic, I'd like it. She studied up, to make sure she got the ingredients just right. Made the Omlet, along with sliced potatoes with onion, and it was perfect. Thats what a good friend does. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So my other bestie Weezer and I are visiting Abby in Cbus together and spending time having a girlie weekend. Just hanging out cooking and doing girl stuff. Abby had mentioned she wanted to make us a good yummy breakfast and I mentioned the Bacado she had made before......so the planning commensed. </div>

So it's been almost a week, and I say something about last weeks concert almost daily to someone. I'm still slightly abuzz about my experience at that amazing Coldplay concert at the United Center in Chicago last Tuesday. <br />
<div align="center">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: magenta; font-size: large;">I MEAN SERIOUSLY DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS?</span></div>

<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So lets back up a bit to maybe like 5 years ago, maybe even 6 years ago. My friend Connie and I would debate on who loved Chris Martin more. Clearly it was me. We both agreed, he wasn't all that attractive, it was his amazing talent that made him so damn SEXY.....however now that we've been 6 inches from each other, he is a nice looking fellow, and way better looking in person. But I digress, I'll get to that in a minute. Connie and I discussed going to a Coldplay concert 6 years ago, but when we started investigating there was a tour going on, but when that was over they weren't going to tour anymore......WHAAAAAT? We had missed our chance. So we gave up......then last year Connie and I went to Nashville, TN to see U2. It's clear we had now hit the big time, we were rich enough we didn't have to wait for our favorite bands to come to us, we could travel to them. That's when we realized....Hey Coldplay is touring again, we must go to them. So we made plans to see them in Chicago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG2kDm_nv92MR1-iRc8aUN4h2sjHlVUuLSckoNuviVkZmACUrLAbpIyFcYkE8CcFSujiQJAHowe_1AMRCgxbSw87KPPUAevrMAv12Oef_kg0jFJno9C7uhpBSfsRh5VR6NdtVtng/s1600/IMG_2592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG2kDm_nv92MR1-iRc8aUN4h2sjHlVUuLSckoNuviVkZmACUrLAbpIyFcYkE8CcFSujiQJAHowe_1AMRCgxbSw87KPPUAevrMAv12Oef_kg0jFJno9C7uhpBSfsRh5VR6NdtVtng/s320/IMG_2592.JPG" width="239" /></a>We threw down a big wad of cash on some stub hub tickets and booked a hotel. It's nearly impossible these days to get decent tickets if you don't get them the day they go on sale....crazy ticket scalpers. So Connie was in charge of tickets, she got 5 rows from the floor on the right side of the stage....sounded impressive. Then she got them in the mail and they were for the Wednesday, not Tuesday. We are grown ass women with tight schedules, she has 3 girls who play soccer, girl scouts, I have boys scouts....our schedules are very tight. So she contacted Stub Hub, and they agreed to replace the tickets with Tuesday tickets, the seats would be as good if not better. So when we got them, they were 9 rows up from the floor, and said obstructed view?? How are these better? Plus we were kind of nervous as these were some random person's tickets who sold them to Stub Hub, and they were e-tickets...what if they were printed more than once. So we were all kinds of nervous before we got to the United Center. Once our tickets were scanned we were able to relax. When we arrived at the United Center we were handed a wristband....no idea what that was....I put mine on after all it was pink, Connie was skeptical, so she put hers in her pocket. It soon became clear what this was. After I texted someone who had already been to the concert the week before. So soon our super cool bracelets turned into awesome led lights that blinked in sync with the music.....WHAAAT? How flipping sweet is that? Coldplay you are genius!! So already I was super excited about what was about to go down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9vCBGIKec4sR0cayBWjR_3cavDTkA0IjI4gtceS3ERyccEaXwbAKT0nJvO-3vb6nARs2e45kr5r1J09OIzAhqf12GG6Wudvi4Rpt6wipe0C6Fu36-ZPDweHWA7PENa53NeNUR6A/s1600/IMG_2617.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9vCBGIKec4sR0cayBWjR_3cavDTkA0IjI4gtceS3ERyccEaXwbAKT0nJvO-3vb6nARs2e45kr5r1J09OIzAhqf12GG6Wudvi4Rpt6wipe0C6Fu36-ZPDweHWA7PENa53NeNUR6A/s400/IMG_2617.JPG" width="298" /></a> </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So we suffered through really bad opening acts. And waited anxiously for Coldplay to take the stage. Just before they turned the lights off and our magical bracelets lit up, I glance to my left. I had noticed the section of seats shrouded in black drapery. I initially thought this as some sort of sound board or something but no one had shown to run said sound board. Then we noticed a security dude on one side, and a few mic stands tucked under this shrouded flat surface.....hummmmm....puzzling....thank you technology, I texted my friend Shane again with a photo of what was next to me.....</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizWCqbhPLYn37lb789aiArCDvxOUnIfwI14Xam5MdOTpSA6SyiyBVLHwLGEUgG2RAkqTsjAHRmVwyDzNBRU1GUIpotywJ4s-vq7VtHuh-I4XzGa4EvVVdypCSJZxVA7OkE2Q4ejw/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizWCqbhPLYn37lb789aiArCDvxOUnIfwI14Xam5MdOTpSA6SyiyBVLHwLGEUgG2RAkqTsjAHRmVwyDzNBRU1GUIpotywJ4s-vq7VtHuh-I4XzGa4EvVVdypCSJZxVA7OkE2Q4ejw/s400/photo.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think he was as excited for me as I was for myself. They would be playing 4 songs from that stage....as an encore....I'm sorry what did you just say???? Did I read that correctly? I immediately jumped up, and ran to the bathroom, because clearly I needed to empty my bladder because otherwise I was certain, the moment Mr. Chris Martin took that tiny little stage I would have wet myself for sure. We could barely contain ourselves during the first part of the concert. Thank God for instagram, and pictures and videos.....Before we knew what was going to happen Connie had offered to switch seats with me as she was closer to the main stage and we had to look to the right, and she's taller than me, so she was being thoughtful as she can see over me. Then when we found out what was about to go down RIGHT NEXT TO ME, she asked...."wanna switch seats now???" Ha Ha....NO! Now before they took the itty bitty stage I had plans to be polite and thoughtful and after they did 2 songs I was going to switch so she could be close too...all of that did not happen because as soon as they were that close we lost leave of what was right and wrong, and normal and polite. We couldn't even take decent pictures we were so starstruck. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtP5s-S0G5Opdqtzhb-DQbi-7XRSMhfh2RixYDx8-wtT3g4U4No2HbU4oad9d3S6CpW8yE_nvNdsdhP_dhNpOW6GSA0CfECiko-P5ThT7W1Yd_iOjeyBsgiLzG07DOhdr8MjpT8A/s1600/DSCF2231.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtP5s-S0G5Opdqtzhb-DQbi-7XRSMhfh2RixYDx8-wtT3g4U4No2HbU4oad9d3S6CpW8yE_nvNdsdhP_dhNpOW6GSA0CfECiko-P5ThT7W1Yd_iOjeyBsgiLzG07DOhdr8MjpT8A/s400/DSCF2231.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We weren't sure how anyone could ever top U2, the 360 tour was unbelievable. Their budget was huge, and they put on an amazingly visual performance. Coldplay, came very close to topping that. They were able to make a very large venue, become very intimate. The fact they were feet than inches away was a huge surprise, and a sweet hook up. </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is again going to be super hard to top this one. We seem to pick super awesome concert venues. It's clear we have excellent taste in music. And men since we both love Bono, Chris Martin and most of all our lovingly supportive husband that put up with our crazy roadtrips. Wait till we decide to spend a whole summer traveling around following Coldplay with random stops at Rubber Stamp conventions. OMG.....how awesome would that be? </div>

Theres a video as an example of how cool our bracelets were. I could upload a bunch of photo's but I'll psot a few more videos. At the start of the concert during "Hurts Like Heaven" they started shooting off confetti cannon's, and the confetti rained down all over everyone. </div>

I seriously haven't stopped listening to Coldplay since last week. I'd talk about it nonstop if people would let me, but I was quickly losing friends. Connie needs to live nextdoor so we can just chill over coffee.....no wait wine, Oliver Soft Red, each night and listen to coldplay. </div>

We used that recipe on one of our annual memorial day camp outs. The recipe has since been lost, and I never remember to search the internet for it, so I decided this past memorial day to just wing it. Tried to remember what would go in such a cake. I was able to pack most of the ingredients, but forgot the the dutch oven.....FAIL....but we were in luck the friends we were camping with are Trailer campers, therefor they have way more storage area than us tent campers and they happened to own a dutch oven they had used once or twice. The only ingredient we were missing was a can of pop.....in the past I had used cherry limeade, but try to find that in the stores now....it's rare. Plus we never take pop when we camp, but tada Lisa and Tony (those trailer campers I spoke of) had a can of diet orange pop. I winged it and made a fantastic cake.....it burn on one side but we were able to get enough not burned to satisfiy everyone. <br />
So we planned another camping trip this past weekend to Mammoth Cave with Lisa and Tony, and their daughter Lauren requested some Jodi Cake......no pressure....as I didn't write any of that down, so I planned to wing it again, this time being more strategic, and plan it to be even healthier. This time I consumed nearly an entire bottle of <a href="http://www.oliverwinery.com/softred" target="_blank">Oliver Soft Red Wine</a>, the wine didn't go in the cake but me having drank almost the whole thing possibly made me a better cook. I'm sure of it. It also encouraged my creativity to create a blog post <a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/" target="_blank">Pioneer Women</a> Style so other could make this cake also. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We'll call this <strong>Jodi's Dutch Oven Cake</strong>. This is a camping recipe, but you could easily throw this into a 13x9 cake pan and bake it in the oven if you are not a camper. I shot for making this almost sugar free. The only sugar was what was in the cake mix, the rest was sugar free. We have here as follows:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>1 8 oz can of fruity pop of your choice (diet)</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>1/2 stick of butter </em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>1/2 cup of splenda brown sugar blend</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>1 box of cake mix</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>can of mandarin oranges no sugar added</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>can of cherry pie filling no sugar added (or any fruit of your choice)</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>1 egg</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is a cast iron dutch oven to be used in a camp fire. It's an amazing piece of equiptment, but requires quite a bit of maintence....thankfully we have friends who take care of theirs, since we've neglected ours. It requires oiling, which we forgot to do to ours. Because you can't really wash these things the Dutch Oven Liners are amazing! So I highly recommend picking up a box of these Theres quite a few in one box so provided you and cooking in a dutch oven every night 1 box will last you a long time. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok the oven is prepped and ready to go. Side note......my other friend <a href="https://www.facebook.com/#!/kim.badinghaus" target="_blank">Weezer</a> went camping with us too. While preparing to go camping and thinking if we had additional people to feed we might need another dutch oven so I asked her if she had a dutch oven.....she said no they did have a convection oven though and wondered if that would work???? Ha Ha Ha.....I don't think I'd put that in the fire. Ok so lets make a cake already!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then add your can of cherry's</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
drain the juice of the mandarin oranges, and pour them in on top of the cherry's. No need to mix.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQb7lX0c-WF5fPWePeo5bVys0mfpiH6dVKjLNwNiXNFOyImwZiCQgGw7hlsAHQSBr4rYyMCIqwSBhbOugCd7yHirN_Cx9lYn5skAp3uKaRnUIp5-g_T5goFOwKLk5pOHULb9V6lQ/s1600/DSCF2185.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQb7lX0c-WF5fPWePeo5bVys0mfpiH6dVKjLNwNiXNFOyImwZiCQgGw7hlsAHQSBr4rYyMCIqwSBhbOugCd7yHirN_Cx9lYn5skAp3uKaRnUIp5-g_T5goFOwKLk5pOHULb9V6lQ/s400/DSCF2185.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sprinkle in the brown sugar splenda blend. I did not measure I just eyeballed what I thought would be a good amount. Same with the butter cut of pats of butter and sprinkle them over top the mixture. again no mixing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8KLnoPV9UEfsd8pDuD8-C140TLFHlRjamdx1fyAMK0c8PlpQLFWdzJsn-4teOwnjS__4_HVl-HA1Q9Hg5KcuuG5RzpQ-t6gDmzLI0l1yiOAR2mprg1XEubnXZhTjXP8HKhpEq4Q/s1600/DSCF2186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8KLnoPV9UEfsd8pDuD8-C140TLFHlRjamdx1fyAMK0c8PlpQLFWdzJsn-4teOwnjS__4_HVl-HA1Q9Hg5KcuuG5RzpQ-t6gDmzLI0l1yiOAR2mprg1XEubnXZhTjXP8HKhpEq4Q/s400/DSCF2186.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then put on the lid and check and prep your fire. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1fGmeutQusif23wUnE_L57eK4K3PYZRhyphenhyphenpz-0EOeBAePJ-hHUYywpgGKkXsuWtKWVrPdeN5cKLt8RFPOhsO3p6ejBLbwfzYhlfvHL_FmPIN003gh1yR8JxWZvIoUAb5xj58XSDA/s1600/DSCF2187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1fGmeutQusif23wUnE_L57eK4K3PYZRhyphenhyphenpz-0EOeBAePJ-hHUYywpgGKkXsuWtKWVrPdeN5cKLt8RFPOhsO3p6ejBLbwfzYhlfvHL_FmPIN003gh1yR8JxWZvIoUAb5xj58XSDA/s400/DSCF2187.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll want any large pieces of wood moved to the side and a good base of white and red coals on the bottom those will be under your oven. You'll also want to move some coals to the side that you will place on top of the dutch oven. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_RbzDRJ6TXMh8p2hbfpZLlRt2w-jaT6dQSLHZ9HOLG2D_DY8-aOi1boHV5w9SVysg7g5Rxf7dLpNMoCxivb1wodV5bk7_ujmPSfbBpeEw-mf6ApvJHh3ogLkuDmnJZF-W8YIwWQ/s1600/DSCF2191.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_RbzDRJ6TXMh8p2hbfpZLlRt2w-jaT6dQSLHZ9HOLG2D_DY8-aOi1boHV5w9SVysg7g5Rxf7dLpNMoCxivb1wodV5bk7_ujmPSfbBpeEw-mf6ApvJHh3ogLkuDmnJZF-W8YIwWQ/s400/DSCF2191.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This will create even cooking. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
approximate cooking time, depending on how hot your coals are should be 35 minutes. Check often, starting at the 30 min mark add 5-10 minutes if it doesn't look done. It's done when the edges are brown. </div>

I have been involved with SOS for over 12 years, maybe longer I've lost track. Rarely do I venture away from my comfort zone of being on the evening prayer team. Years ago, they didn't have it, so I was forced to find another way to be involved so I took photos of outreaches, but eventually found my way back to the prayer team. This year months before SOS, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/#!/carolyn.torres.754" target="_blank">Carolyn</a> sent an email to a bunch of people in regards to an onsite experience they were creating, and needed volunteers who would like to be involved in the planning process. Rarely do I answer these calls for volunteers, as I work retail and my hours are unpredictable. I agreed to go to the first meeting just to see what it was all about, and if it was something God needed me to do I'd make it work. There was a whole lot of brainstorming that went on. For the most part I am not a big fan of brainstorming, I survived that process. The time frame was laid out and the frame work was presented. And a suggestion of something creative the kids could do, to fill some time while they waited their turn to go on the prayer trail. Through a series of brainstorming ideas we landed on Broken Tile Mosaic......as soon as those words were out there.....I could literally think of nothing else. My head was instantly full of ideas, and my wheels were turning immediately. Apparently this was obvious, and I suddenly was in the throws of a whole lot of creative planning. And this time filler activity grew from a time filler to an important activity, with speaking points and everything for the onsite experience. The best part, I agreed to plan this all out, and I was going to be gone 2 weeks prior to SOS......which is the important time when they pull everything together. I made this clear ahead of time. I was responsible for what the image would be and what supplies would be needed......and how to construct it all.......IMAGE???? This gave me a bit of a panic. I don't draw. After some prayer I really felt like the image should be original.....and not some photograph we redesigned. Except I don't draw. Although I have people in my home who draw very well. Welcome.....my talented.....very understanding <a href="https://www.facebook.com/#!/ron.j.sexton" target="_blank">husband</a>. He is not a huge fan of me interrupting his usually low key life, with whatever craziness I got going on. I let him know I needed a picture and for what.......I got "the look", and I smiled my sweet......"you're gonna do this", smile. I told him the theme of SOS, and the direction we'd kind of like to go in. And I said now go draw something......and then I prayed.......a few days later he sent me a few doodles from his little at work sketchbook. <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1yCCHrlU1rW62Is0zf8ro5QYW_EJI64pkdl0xvQO-Gd4_vxR52Zp3k116TtrA32CRtzPhvXII2dsvtkRdRzYXJJ9k4jgSgpbZ0Fz4nwh4Uhpo6cxkOHGyotVjKpEpgaRvL8_kBA/s1600/Top.BMP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1yCCHrlU1rW62Is0zf8ro5QYW_EJI64pkdl0xvQO-Gd4_vxR52Zp3k116TtrA32CRtzPhvXII2dsvtkRdRzYXJJ9k4jgSgpbZ0Fz4nwh4Uhpo6cxkOHGyotVjKpEpgaRvL8_kBA/s320/Top.BMP.jpg" width="320" /></a>I have never made a mosaic, or even tiled ever in my whole life. I still haven't. Ha Ha......I watched videos, and read on the how-to.....and then instructed others. It was a fun, slightly stressfull process, and very rewarding. And after it was all said and done, I can clearly see God's hand all over it. It was a great experience to listen, hear and act on what God was saying. My husband was gracious enough to plot out his image on graph paper so it could be translated into mosaic.....much like color by number. I also gave him the task of......... we need something to hold this, and how will they be attached.....with a huff....he went to work on construction plans. <br />
<br />
All this was completed a few days before I left on a 2 week vacation for California. I was a tiny bit scared when I left just because it turned into a giant project with a lot of details and I was terrified I had forgotten something which I probably did. Somehow the folks at VCC pulled it off as they always do with large insane projects. Because of being gone for 2 weeks, and my work schedule there was no way for me to be at SOS during the day and to be involved in the process. <br />
<br />
So for those of you who weren't there basically 200 kids per day went through the onsite experience there were several stations. The mosaic was one station. In small groups throughout the day they'd have talking points and then they'd creat a 12x12 section of the mosaic.....not knowing what the big picture would be, only what their section was. The last station was a worship type experience where the big picture was put together so they could see. <br />

I was amazed, and happy they pulled it off. Big thanks to a ton of people. I know it was a lot of work. They turned out to be the exact image God put in my head. Great job to the 800 teens who didn't even know what they were creating, and allowing God to use them to make some super awesome God Art!!!</div>
